Recognition for our Mission

We frequently discuss our mission of helping our clients, co-workers, and communities succeed, but we don’t often discuss why this is so important to us. Citizens State Bank is a locally-owned bank dating back to 1873. That gives us a unique perspective - the Great Depression, multiple wars, the post-WWII building boom – we’ve experienced these events right along with the communities we serve. Just like our neighbors, we are proud of our hometowns and want to contribute to their success.

Ironically, these “old fashioned” values are becoming more popular. Recently some of the nation’s largest companies, including Amazon, Apple, GM, and Oracle, signed a pledge that goes beyond the "profits first" view to include:

“Investing in our employees. This starts with compensating them fairly and providing important benefits. It also includes supporting them through training and education that help develop new skills for a rapidly changing world. We foster diversity and inclusion, dignity and respect.”

And

“Supporting the communities in which we work. We respect the people in our communities and protect the environment by embracing sustainable practices across our businesses.”

In other words, they’re recognizing the importance of their clients, co-workers, and communities.

That’s why it’s particularly gratifying to have recently been recognized by CardRates.com for our commitment to our communities through volunteering and financial education.
