Citizens State Bank Makes Major Gift to Love Community Center

Rushville, IN (March 31, 2025) — A vital resource within Rush County’s Love Community Center (LCC) will bear the name “Rush County Food Pantry made possible by Citizens State Bank” following a generous donation from the financial institution.

“It’s exciting to see the Love Community Center coming into operation knowing all of the ways it will positively impact Rush County,” said Dan Maddox, Chairman and CEO of Citizens State Bank. “Combatting food insecurity is a philanthropic focus of Citizens State Bank and we couldn’t be prouder to be associated with this project in this way.”

Since 2006, the all-volunteer Rush County Community Assistance (RCCA) Food Pantry has supported residents facing hunger by providing fresh produce, meat, dairy, canned, and shelf-stable goods.

The pantry had been operating in a cramped space worsened by an increased demand. Its new home within LCC is nearly three times larger at 3,761 square feet and offers a bright, spacious, and welcoming experience for clients to shop. Please visit www.lovecommunitycenter.org/food-pantry for hours of operation and more information.

“We are ecstatic to have Citizens State Bank and the Maddox family so generously supporting our community and this project!” said Chris May, executive director of the Rush County Community Foundation. “Their investment into the betterment of Rush County is immensely appreciated.”

The Bank’s contribution was made to the Ebert H. and Bessie M. Schroeder Fund at the Rush County Community Foundation. The fund is dedicated to the operation and sustainability of the Love Community Center.

The Love Community Center, presented by Jay and Christie (Kile) Love, is a 68,500 square foot facility occupying the former Walmart at 1850 N. Main Street in Rushville.

In addition to the relocated food pantry, Rushville Public Library and Rush County Senior Center, the Love Community Center adds new amenities. The 27,000-square-foot Rush County Recreation Center includes workout space, a gymnasium and the Herdrich Family Aquatic Center indoor pool. Westminster Early Learning Academy will offer 72 seats of high-quality childcare for infants through age 5. Social services providers, including ICAP and Firefly Children & Family Alliance, have dedicated offices. The LCC offers a variety of meeting rooms and social spaces, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
